NORDHAUS / An eye for detail
Reihenhaus — a connected facade
A facade study: consider render, openings and transitions as one connected task.

CONSIDER THE EXISTING · Material, proportion and junctions in focus
Reihenhaus considers the facade of a narrow terraced home as a whole. Window openings, the base and neighbouring junctions belong to the same task. The study organizes existing surfaces, connections and coordination needs before a build-up is chosen. A restrained material direction brings the elements into one clear composition.
Three decisions
- 01
Document openings, the base and transitions together.
- 02
Understand the substrate before selecting a material.
- 03
Identify neighbouring junctions and coordination needs early.
Design study
Thickness, fixings and neighbouring boundaries need on-site clarification.
